Aligning a dish and receiver for Rostam Media
Four numbers, one dish, one USB drive. From the angle on the roof to the moment a file lands on storage — and the two bars that mislead almost everyone.

The dish is already on the roof. The receiver is gathering dust under the television. Between you and Rostam Media's files stand exactly four numbers and twenty minutes of patience.
Here are the four numbers first; then we walk through where to enter them on your own receiver.

These parameters are published on rostam.media and its links page, and cross-checked against the flysat satellite database. They are the same four numbers Toosheh used: the same transponder slot, now broadcasting as Rostam Media.
1The dish: take the angle from a neighbour
If your dish already received Yahsat, you have no metalwork to do. Go to step 2.
Otherwise the simplest method in Iran is to look at the dish next door. The satellite sits fixed in the sky, and every dish in the neighbourhood receiving Yahsat points at exactly the same spot. Your neighbour's angle is the answer to your problem.
If there is nobody to copy, two moves are enough:
- Face the dish south, tilted slightly west. Yahsat sits at 52.5° East; from Tehran that means south with a westward offset.
- Turn it slowly, one degree at a time. Wait three seconds, then move another degree. The receiver always answers late, and most people overshoot the correct point precisely because of that delay.
The real obstacle is anything between the dish and open sky: a tree, a wall, an air-conditioning unit, an awning. A satellite signal does not pass through them.
2The receiver: enter the four numbers by hand
On any digital receiver the route is nearly identical. Menu names differ; the order does not:
- 1Press Menu and go to the installation section.
- 2Choose manual tuning: Manual Scan. Automatic search will not do this — the Rostam Media carrier is not an ordinary television channel and an auto-scan usually skips it.
- 3Set the satellite to Yahsat 52.5E. If it is not listed, use add-satellite and enter 52.5° East.
- 4Enter frequency 11766, polarisation vertical, symbol rate 27500. The three only work together; one wrong value and nothing arrives.
- 5Start the search and watch the two bars at the bottom of the screen.
Those two bars report different things, and this is where most people go wrong:
- Signal strength means the cable and receiver are healthy. That bar rises even when the dish is pointed at empty sky.
- Signal quality means you have actually acquired the satellite. Until that one rises, not a single file will arrive.
High strength with zero quality is the state that costs people entire afternoons. It means the hardware is fine and the dish is still not aiming.
3Recording: plug in storage and wait
Rostam Media is not a live stream to watch. It is a package of files falling out of the sky, which the receiver writes onto storage.
- 1Plug a USB drive into the receiver. Use an empty, freshly formatted one; older receivers struggle with very large or nearly full drives.
- 2Stay on the Rostam Media channel and start recording. On most remotes the button is a red dot or REC.
- 3Let it run for at least twenty to thirty minutes. Packages are broadcast one after another, and a short recording produces an incomplete file.
- 4Stop the recording, remove the drive, connect it to a computer or phone.
On an Android phone you will need an OTG cable for that connection. It is the only part you may have to buy, and it costs less than a coffee.
4When nothing arrives
Three situations actually occur, each with one answer:
And a fourth case that is not your fault: the broadcast itself is down. Satellite monitors logged this exact frequency active again in March 2026 after a period of outage. If everything is correct and still nothing comes, try again in a day or two.
The one who stayed behind the blackout
These devices exist for the days the internet is switched off. In November 2019 it was switched off nationwide, and in those same days hundreds were killed. Amnesty International recorded the names of 23 children under 18 in its file MDE 13/1894/2020.
Armin Ghaderi was 15. He was killed in Kermanshah on 16 November 2019, while no news was leaving the city. A shutdown does not only take the connection; it takes the witness. That is exactly what you are aligning this dish against.
5Now the software
